Consider teaming up with a local tree sales service and host a sale right on the school's playground. They will benefit from the sales while the PTA will benefit by receiving a small commission to help the school.
This great idea can be made even simpler by having parents pre-order their trees online. Collecting cash can be challenging on the day of the event. You'll find yourself running around the room chasing down parents who are trying to pay with checks or not having enough change on hand for customers paying with cash. It's time-consuming and frustrating!
We've got good news for you! When it comes time to collect payments from your community members, set up a free hub with PlanSocial and collect your payments online. Click the ‘Add Event’ button and enter a title then select ‘Christmas Tree Sale’ from the dropdown, and select 'Go'.
Select ‘Sell online tickets’ and click the link to connect your payment account.
You'll first be prompted to connect to your existing Stripe account. They will ask if your community has an existing Stripe account - select ‘Yes’ if you already have an account.
Don’t worry if you currently don’t have one because an account can be created online in minutes here - simply select ‘No’ and follow the instructions that follow. You will need to provide your PTA's bank details, and a contact person. (If you also provide proof of your PTA's charity status you can benefit from reduced-rate Stripe fees.)
Under the 'Edit' tab you can add your Christmas trees for sale under 'Items'. The template includes a sample tree entry so feel free to edit this entry or add your own. You can even add your own images so purchasers can see what they'll receive.
With our friendly user interface, you can edit the price, dates of the Christmas sale so they can pick up their tree and a maximum available quantity (if any), for each tree type you might add.
Next on the Forms tab you can collect information for the tree sales such as Full Name, Contact Number, Email etc. You can add an item form for each Christmas tree type that you have added under 'Items' in the previous step.
